About the Estate

A family legacy of Lowveld hospitality.

Thirty-six years of welcoming guests to the African bush — and three offerings under one roof.

The Greeff family

Warm hospitality, authentic experiences.

For more than 36 years, Matthew and Sylvia Greeff have welcomed guests to the African bush through Matthew Greeff Safaris, creating hunting and safari experiences for visitors from around the world.

That same passion for hospitality shaped the Gold Valley Gun Club, now recognised as one of South Africa's premier clay-target shooting destinations.

The Knot & Barrel is the next chapter in that journey — a venue built on the same values of warm hospitality, authentic experiences and memories that last a lifetime.

Guests round it out with a night or two at Gold Valley Lodge, where six en-suite chalets sleep up to 14 in the quiet of the bushveld.

The family

Three generations, one valley.

Matthew and Sylvia Greeff, with daughters Savannah and Kalie, and the team who keep the estate running — photographed on the wall at Gold Valley Lodge, the same wall where thirty years of guests have watched the sun drop behind the escarpment.

Where we are

The De Kaap Valley, above Barberton.

Gold Valley sits high on the escarpment above the De Kaap Valley, twenty minutes from Nelspruit and forty-five minutes from the nearest gate to the Kruger National Park.

The land holds more than one story

A place people return to for the quiet moments too.

Weddings are one chapter. Engagements, anniversaries, milestone birthdays, family portraits, babymoons — the valley makes room for all of them. Some guests come once for the ceremony and return five years later with a bump and a camera.

Come out to the valley

Three offerings, one estate.

Whether you are here to shoot, to celebrate or to stay — we would love to have you.
